
Aweys Ali, also known as Abu Adnan Al-Sumal, is a Somali-American Muslim author, educator, community leader, and founder of Aweys Islamic Publications®. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, he is dedicated to making authentic Islamic knowledge accessible to English-speaking readers through books that combine faith, reflection, history, and practical guidance.
His writings focus on strengthening the relationship between the believer and Allah through themes of remembrance, repentance, prayer, Islamic theology, Qur'anic reflection, Islamic history, family values, and respectful interfaith dialogue. His goal is to present Islam in a clear, evidence-based, and approachable manner that benefits both Muslims and non-Muslims seeking to understand the faith.
Aweys Ali is the author of numerous books, including Bilal Ibn Rabah: From Chains to the Call, Two Hearts, The Power of Istighfār, Why Do We Struggle to Pray?, Did Jesus Ever Claim to Be God?, After the Last Breath, and several forthcoming titles covering spirituality, theology, family, and comparative religion.
In addition to his publishing work, he serves his local community through educational initiatives, youth development, and outreach efforts. He is also the founder of the Afrikana Community Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting African immigrant and refugee families through education, mentorship, and community engagement.
